Is root canal painful?
Not necessarily. There are few common misconceptions that root canals, cause pain and illness and should be avoided at all costs. The exact opposite is true. With root canal treatment the pain, inconvenience, and cost of avoiding saving a tooth can be easily avoided. In general, the longer people postpone treatment the more they risk the chance to save your tooth.
Supported by years of advanced experience & modern technology, Dr. Aghbashian assure that our patients shall not experience any more pain while receiving dental pulp treatment than if they went to have a cavity filled. The pain from a severe toothache, often caused by damaged tissues in the tooth, can be easily fixed when Dr. Aghbashian removes the damaged tissue through root canal treatment while the area of the infected tooth is fully anesthetized.
Saving your natural teeth, if all possible, is the best option and its always recommended by our providers. Nothing artificial can replace 100% the look or function of a natural tooth. Nowadays, root canal treatment has a high success rate and many root canal-treated teeth last several years.
Do I need to restore my missing Tooth / Teeth?
In fact this is one of the most common questions that our patients ask. The simple answer is: YES
Every single tooth is occupying a specific place in the dental arch and controlled by “Balance Zone” that keeps it in its place.
When you lose a tooth, the the “Balance Zone” will be significantly disturbed and both adjacent and opposing teeth will started moving to the empty place. Moreover, root of the tooth no longer transmits force to your jaw bone from biting, chewing, and smiling. Because it is no longer being stimulated, the bone will begin to deteriorate. This process of weakening bone is known as “resorption.” You could lose up to 25% of bone mass within a year after losing your tooth.
Dental implants prevent other teeth shifting and bone resorption and because they are permanently attached and bonded to your jaw bone. This stimulates the bone just like a natural tooth root would, preventing your jaw bone from weakening, and keeping your mouth strong.
What Are Implant-Supported Restorations?
An implant-supported restoration is the part of your dental implant that restores the aesthetics of your smile and your bite. The implant itself is a small piece of titanium that is surgically implanted into your gums and jaw bone. The implant-supported restoration is the prosthesis that restores the natural shape and appearance of your smile, and attaches to this implant. Common types of implant-supported restorations include dental crowns (for single-tooth implants), implant-supported bridges, and implant‑supported dentures.
